John Peterson, president of the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce

Hard to believe it’s September already but I continue to be grateful for the opportunities we have at our Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce that make this place such a special place to live and work.

We had a great turnout for our August Chamber Breakfast at Miles Grant Country Club as we welcomed Martin County School Board Superintendent Michael Maine for a timely and informative discussion as students headed back to school. Superintendent Maine shared valuable updates this upcoming school year, provided insight into the district’s priorities, and answered questions. It was exciting to hear this school year begins with the achievement of Martin County’s first consecutive A ratings in seven years. Thank you to the Hobe Sound Community Chest for sponsoring the breakfast and to everyone who joined us for a wonderful kickoff to the new school year.

We also enjoyed closing out the summer at our August Business After Hours hosted by the new Hobe Sound Beach Shop location. As always, our Business After Hours events provided a great opportunity for members to network after work, try those famous Dom’s Steak Tips everyone is hearing about and build new relationships in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Thank you to the Hobe Sound Beach Shop team for their hospitality and for helping create another enjoyable evening for our Hobe Sound Chamber family.

Last, but certainly not least, I am excited to share some important news about the future of our Chamber if you missed the announcement. The Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce is moving!

The move is bittersweet for us as with any major move, but this move represents an exciting opportunity that could not be passed up. The new location will have great visibility, lower operating costs, and a long-term home while continuing to deliver the same dedicated service our members have come to expect. We anticipate the move into our new permanent location in December 2026 at 12230 SE Dixie Highway, just two miles south of our current office. Beginning September 1, the temporary office will be located next door at 8902 S.E. Bridge Road, Hobe Sound, inside the Raymond James office of Guia Brown and Chung Wong and we are thankful for their help during this transition.

We are incredibly grateful for all the wonderful events, meaningful connections, and fellowship shared at our current location, and we look forward to creating many more memories in our new home.

As always, thank you for your continued involvement and support. I encourage everyone to stay connected, attend our upcoming events, and continue supporting our local Chamber restaurants, businesses, and non-profit organizations. Together, we help make Hobe Sound the vibrant and thriving community we are proud to call home.

John Peterson,

President, Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce,
